Lumshory — Vats and Waterfalls of the Carpathians
Lumshory is a picturesque mountain village in Zakarpattia, known for Shypot Waterfall and traditional Carpathian vats. It is one of the most popular destinations for a day trip from Shayan. The distance from Zakarpattia Provence Estate is about 40 km, and the drive takes approximately one hour. The village is situated in a mountain river valley among dense Carpathian forests.
Shypot Waterfall is the main natural landmark of Lumshory. It stands 14 meters tall. Water cascades down the rock, forming a natural pool at the base. The best time to visit is in spring or after rains, when the flow is at its strongest. In summer, it stays cool here even on the hottest days — a perfect escape from the heat.

Carpathian vats are a unique Zakarpattia tradition. Large cast-iron or wooden vats are filled with hot water infused with medicinal herbs — mint, thyme, juniper. The water is heated by fire underneath to a comfortable temperature. Bathing in the vats outdoors among the mountains is an unforgettable experience. The procedure takes about an hour and has both relaxing and wellness effects.
We recommend visiting Lumshory from May to October, when the weather is most comfortable. Bring comfortable shoes for the walk to the waterfall, a towel, and swimwear for the vats. After bathing in the vats and walking to the waterfall, return to a cozy apartment at Zakarpattia Provence Estate — to relax after an eventful day.
