Shayan Mineral Water: A Complete Guide for Guests
Shayan is one of Ukraine's most renowned balneological resorts, located in the picturesque Tysa River valley in Zakarpattia. Shayan mineral springs have been known since 1818, when the first chemical analyses of the water attracted the attention of doctors in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Shayan water was supplied to the Habsburg court in Vienna and Budapest as a remedy for gastrointestinal and liver conditions.
In terms of chemical composition, Shayan mineral water is comparable to the world's best waters: Georgian Borjomi, French Vichy Célestins, and Russian Essentuki. However, Shayan has a unique advantage — a high content of metasilicic acid (H₂SiO₃) at a concentration of 50–150 mg/L. This combination of bicarbonates with silicon is extremely rare among mineral waters worldwide and makes Shayan water truly exceptional.
Two types of mineral water
Shayanska-242
Carbonated, low-mineralized, bicarbonate-sodium, siliceous
Shayanska-4
Carbonated, medium-mineralized, bicarbonate-calcium-sodium, siliceous
Metasilicic acid — a unique component
Metasilicic acid (H₂SiO₃) is the defining component of Shayan mineral water at a concentration of 50–150 mg/L. Silicon plays a key role in human health: it is a component of connective tissue, blood vessel walls, cartilage, and skin. The combination of metasilicic acid with bicarbonates is unique among Zakarpattia mineral waters and is found in only a few springs worldwide.
- Body detoxification — binds and removes heavy metals and toxins
- Strengthening blood vessel walls and atherosclerosis prevention
- Skin cell regeneration and slowing of aging processes
- Adaptogenic effect — increased resistance to stress and strain
- Strengthening bone tissue, hair, and nails
- Anti-inflammatory effect on the gastrointestinal mucous membrane
Which conditions it helps with
Gastritis and Digestion
Chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, reflux esophagitis. Bicarbonates neutralize acid, silicon heals the mucous membrane.

Chronic cholecystitis, biliary dyskinesia, fatty liver disease. The water stimulates bile secretion and cleanses the liver.
Learn more →Diabetes and Metabolism
Type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, obesity. Mineral water improves carbohydrate metabolism and insulin sensitivity.
Learn more →Kidney diseases
Urolithiasis, chronic pyelonephritis, cystitis. For kidney conditions, water from well No. 2 is used — chloride-bicarbonate sodium.

How to Drink Mineral Water Properly
The effectiveness of mineral water depends on proper intake: temperature, timing relative to meals, serving size, and course duration. The general rule is 150–250 ml three times a day, 30–40 minutes before meals. For high acidity, the water is heated to 40–45°C; for low acidity, it is drunk at room temperature.
